About Zettlr
Zettlr is a desktop Markdown writing app for researchers, journalists, and writers. It focuses on authoring long-form text, notes, and publications while keeping your notes as your notes. The app combines writing, retrieval, and export so drafts can move into the publication pipeline used by a school or employer.
It supports citations with reference managers such as Zotero and JabRef, Zettelkasten knowledge management, snippets for boilerplate insertion, themes, dark modes, custom CSS, code highlighting, and full-text search. Export options use Pandoc, LaTeX, and Textbundle, with LaTeX and Word template support for publication drafts.
Zettlr is Free and Open Source Software, built as an Electron app and available in over a dozen languages. It runs on macOS, Windows, and most Linux distributions, with installers for Intel and ARM systems. You can also install it through package managers such as Homebrew, Flathub, Chocolatey, and the Debian and Ubuntu repositories.
