About Zed
Zed is a code editor for writing and editing code with low latency and multiplayer collaboration. It is built for macOS, Linux, and Windows, and can be installed directly or through local package managers on those platforms.
It includes a built-in terminal and supports language servers, Vim-style editing, Git integration, and collaboration over channels. Zed also has syntax highlighting, code intelligence, diagnostics, and an extensible UI built with GPUI.
Zed is developed by Zed Industries, Inc., a for-profit company. Source code is primarily GPL-3.0-or-later, with Apache-2.0 components where marked. Web support is not yet available, and the project is maintained as a desktop editor rather than a hosted service.
