About Solidus
Solidus is a free, open-source ecommerce platform built with Ruby on Rails, giving merchants complete control over their online store. It is a full commerce solution with a storefront, an admin area, and a RESTful API rather than a single isolated component.
The platform bundles everything a store needs: product catalog, cart and checkout, orders, customers, and payments, all running inside a standard Rails application. You can deploy the complete stack or use just the core and pair it with your own frontend, admin, or API, then layer on community extensions for added capabilities.
Solidus began as a fork of Spree and is now community-driven, with the agency Nebulab serving as the main code contributor and director. It is self-hosted on any Rails-capable host, so the code, data, and infrastructure stay entirely in your hands.
