About Silex
Silex is a free/libre visual website builder for creating static sites. It solves the lock-in problem common in no-code tools by letting you design visually, export clean HTML and CSS, and host the result anywhere. It is built for people who want a website they can keep, move, and edit without a proprietary format.
It uses a GrapesJS-based drag-and-drop editor with HTML, CSS, and JS editing. It supports static HTML output, CMS integration that binds components to WordPress, Strapi, Squidex, or any GraphQL API, 11ty-compatible templates, SEO tools, and a plugin system in JS or TS. A desktop app is in alpha for working offline without an account.
Silex is maintained by Silex Labs, a non-profit recognized as being of general interest, with no investors and finances published openly on Open Collective. It can be self-hosted with Docker or Node.js, or deployed on CapRover, YunoHost, or Elest.io. The hosted version at v3.silex.me is free and uses a GitLab account for storage.
