Matomo

Matomo is a free/libre web analytics platform for tracking websites and apps. It positions itself as the leading open-source alternative to Google Analytics, with full data ownership and privacy built in, and is already used on more than a million websites.

You install Matomo on your own webserver and add a JavaScript tag to the pages you want to track, then view reports in real time. It offers a fully customizable dashboard with drag-and-drop widgets, the Matomo Analytics API, e-commerce and goal tracking, campaign tracking, custom variables, email reports, a custom segment editor, and geo location. Features live in plugins, so you can add or remove capabilities.

Matomo runs on PHP with MySQL or MariaDB and is released under GPL v3 or later. Because it is installed on your own server, the data stays in your own database. A hosted Matomo Cloud option with a free trial is also available for teams that prefer not to self-host.
