About Kong
Kong is a cloud-native, platform-agnostic gateway for API, LLM, and MCP traffic. It centralizes proxying and routing for microservices or conventional APIs, and it can sit in front of agentic LLM and MCP workloads as a control layer.
It provides proxying, routing, load balancing, health checking, authentication, and plugin-based extensibility. Kong also includes multi-LLM support, semantic security, MCP traffic security, and analytics, and it runs natively on Kubernetes through its official Kubernetes Ingress Controller.
Kong is available as a self-hosted gateway and as cloud-hosted Kong Konnect. Supported distributions include Docker Compose and Docker, with installation options for cloud, bare metal, and containers. The code is licensed under Apache License 2.0.
