About Greenbone GVMD
Greenbone GVMD is the central management service that sits between security scanners and user clients. It stores vulnerability management configurations and scan results, providing a single backend for Greenbone Community Edition deployments.
Access to data, control commands, and workflows is offered through the XML-based Greenbone Management Protocol (GMP). It drives scanners such as the OpenVAS Scanner through the Open Scanner Protocol (OSP) and coordinates scan tasks across connected engines.
The gvmd daemon runs as a self-hosted Linux service, configurable through a config file, command line options, and global settings. It supports JWT-based GMP authentication and exposes scan reports for downstream security intelligence workflows.
