About ungoogled-chromium
ungoogled-chromium is a Chromium build that removes dependency on Google web services while keeping the default Chromium experience as close as possible. It is meant as a drop-in replacement for Chromium, with tweaks for privacy, control, and transparency.
It removes background requests to Google web services, strips Google-specific code, and prunes pre-built binaries from the source. Privacy and control settings are added through extra command-line switches and chrome://flags entries, most of them off by default until you enable them.
ungoogled-chromium runs on many Linux distributions, macOS, and Windows, with builds maintained in distribution repositories and package managers like Flatpak and Nix. It selectively borrows features from projects such as Inox, Bromite, Debian, and Iridium Browser.
