About Sui
Sui is a layer-1 smart contract platform for web3 applications, built for high throughput and low latency through an asset-oriented programming model. The Rust node software that powers the network is run by operators as validators or full nodes. Independent transactions such as payments and transfers can be processed in parallel, so common operations settle quickly.
Smart contracts are written in Move, a language for defining owned on-chain assets and the rules for creating, transferring, and mutating them. The model emphasizes rich, composable assets and responsive execution.
The network is maintained by a permissionless set of authorities that play a role similar to validators in other systems. The SUI token is used for gas and delegated stake.
