About Pencil2D
Pencil2D is a free animation and drawing tool for making traditional hand-drawn, cartoon-style 2D animation. It aims to be easy and intuitive, so newcomers can sketch frames and string them into motion while experienced animators get a fast, focused drawing surface.
You can mix bitmap and vector graphics in the same project, switching between painterly raster strokes and clean editable vector lines as a scene needs. A built-in Quick Reference inside the app helps you get familiar with the tools and functions.
The project is community-driven and developed entirely by volunteers. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and FreeBSD, with builds available from the official website and GitHub.
