    About Open Dental

Open Dental is dental practice management software for managing patient records, scheduling, billing, and daily front-office work. It is used by dental offices that need a single system for clinical and administrative tasks.

It includes a graphical tooth chart, electronic prescriptions, reporting, and insurance claims with support for many clearinghouses, plus optional eServices such as a patient portal, web scheduling, and integrated texting. The application is a Windows desktop client built on the Microsoft .NET Framework and backed by a relational database server.

The source code is published under the GNU GPL but does not build on its own: you install the official Trial Version first to create the initial database, then compile from the matching branch and replace its program files with your build. Open Dental Software maintains the project and does not accept outside code contributions.
