About OCS Inventory NG
OCS Inventory NG (Open Computers and Software Inventory Next Generation) is an asset management and deployment solution. It uses agents to collect the software and hardware composition of every computer or server, helping teams keep an inventory of endpoints across an IT estate.
To cover devices that cannot run an agent, it discovers network elements and, since version 2.0, adds SNMP scan results to the data retrieved by IP Discover, pulling in information from printers, scanners, routers, and agentless machines. For software rollout, the central management server sends packages that agents download over HTTP or HTTPS and launch on client computers.
OCS Inventory NG is licensed under GPLv2 and has been developed since 2001. The web console is published by the project and is used as a deployment tool on IT estates of more than 100,000 devices.
