ILIAS

ILIAS is an open source learning management system for web-based e-learning. Universities, companies, schools, and the public sector have used its integrated tools since 1998 to build individual learning scenarios and training programs, and it was created to lower the cost of using new media in education and further training.

The platform is delivered over the web and self-hosted on your own PHP server. It is extended through a Plugin Repository of community add-ons, so institutions can adapt it to their own teaching and administration needs without forking the core.

Development is steered by an international community and coordinated by the ILIAS open source e-Learning e.V., a nonprofit association whose members help fund the project and have a say in its direction. A professional network of service providers offers paid customization. ILIAS is published under the GPL and is free of charge.
